Gennett Sambursky Pro-Am

Rt Finalists Edwin Gerard & Stu Post Our 4th annual Gennett/Sambursky Pro-Am took place this past Saturday, February 24. This year pro-am featured a record 24 partcipants, 12 pros and 12 amatuers, pro-am shirts for all players, and some great tennis.

Pros include: Billy Mendler, Kris Shumway, Collin Crawrford, Clark Crawford, Michael Starke, Lucas Coene, Jordan Smith, Ryan Kovaleski, Edwin Gerard, Richemn Mourad & Randy Fortran. Richemn is from Sao Paulo Brazil & Randy from Santa Fe New Mexico. Must be our pro-am is gaining momentum.

Amatuers include: Bill Mirch, Dave Bojak, Tim Saunders, Stu Post, Dylan Blysterak, Pat Clas, Jeff Conklin, Mike Clark, John Scanlon, Karl Kuehn & sponsors Dan Sambursky & Parker Gennett.

A round robin format was used in which one played four matches of five game sets, with a different pro and against a different pro and amatuer each time. A point differential system was used to determine your place. The 1st place pro & am then played against the 2nd place pro & am in a 10 point super tiebreak to determine the winner.

Randy Fortran & Parker Gennett defeated Edwin Gerard & Stu Post in the finals, 10-2. Randy takes home $100 for his winning efforts!

The pro-am was a super time, and we already look forwrd to next year’s event.  

Junior Travel Team

While 8 traveled with BTC pros, we had 15 local junior compete in Syracuse!

Those in attendance include Ashlee Lattner, Caitlan Mastroe, Makenzie Rounds, Christina Perry, Alexa Cohn, Megan Miller, Allison Starke, Charlotte Federovicz, Julia O’Connor & Julia Hutchinson, Pat Loughlin, Kenny Freidman Blaine Miller Shane Regan & Jeff Swails.

Congratulations to Girl’s 12 winner Charlotte Federovicz, and to Girl’s 12 finalist Christina Perry & Boy’s 12 finalist Blaine Miller. All in all a great showing for BTC juniors.

Kris Shumway & Michael Starke chaperoned the juniors and watched the matches. They took notes on passed on their observations to our teaching staff, which is proving very helpful as we continue to groom our kids for the next tournament!

Junior Travel Team

Binghamton Tennis Center junior travel team will be taking a road trip to the East Side Tennis Club in Syracuse February 9-11 to play in a Level 11 tournament. Kris Shumway will be our “touring pro” and chaperone for the event.

Cost will be between $100-$125 and includes transportation, lodging, tennis coach and supervision. One must enter the tournament on their own. Tournament and sign up deadline are Friday, January 26. We will limit the trip to the 1st 12 sign-ups. This tournament includes all age groups, 12-18’s and is the 2nd event on the Western Regional Grand Prix Championship Circuit. Flyers explaining the details of the circuit are located at the club.

Sambursky-Gennett Men’s Pro Am

Our 4th annual Gennett-Sambursky men’s tennis pro-am will run Saturday, February 24 from 7-10pm. The pro-am fields 10 pros and 10 amatuers, with a pro & amatuer playing against anotehr pro & anatuer each match. Using a round robin format, four sets of tennis will be played, with a playoff to determine to winning team. Prizes will be given to the winning amatuers and prize money to the pros!  pros Cost is $40 and includes hor’ duerves, 3 hours of pro-am tennis and a guaranteed great time. Sign up is limited to the 1st 10 sign-ups. This is our winter tennis “festival” highlight, and one you should mark on your calendar. Spectators welcome
