Singles winner Jeff Swails with runner up Alex Tsai. The Section 1V High School Boys Tennis State Qualifier took place at BTC this past Friday & Saturday, May 23 & 24. Eight singles players and doubles teams competed for three coveted spots in the New York State Boys High School Championships, which will be held May 29- June 1st at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY, site of the US Open.

Jeff Swails of Vestal  defeated Alex Tsai of Binghamton 6-3,6-4 in the singles finals, while  Sam Deluccia & Aaron Wida of Horseheads defeated Kyle Seyler & Quintin Scwab of Ithaca 6-4,6-2 in the doubles final. Dan Freeman of Elmira Notre Dame took 3rd place in singles, while Binghamton’s team of Zach Wallenstein & Tyler Hall took 3rd in the doubles.

The quality of tennis was quite good. Several BTC juniors were among the field, and we were impressed with the level of play. We wish all of our section 1V qualfiers the best of luck at Flushing, Meadows.
