usta-party-1.jpg LGT Tny director and board chair discussing tny strategy at the party. Thought we would recap our 2007 USTA adult league play. Over 550 individuals participated in the Mixed Doubles, Adult, Masters and Grand Master leagues. We fielded 57 teams and ran leagues in the womens 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 & 4.0 divisions, mens 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and fielded a 4.5 team, mixed doubles 6.0,7.0 & 8.0, and Masters and Grand Masters womens and mixed. These are record numbers.

Our local teams enjoyed much post season success, more so than in recent years. The following teams advanced all the way to sectionals, one level away from nationals:

Donny Krebbeks:        3.0 Men

Sylvia Walsh/Sue Burns 3.0 Women

Marty Murphy            3.5 Masters Men

Betty Carruthers   6.0 Grand Masters Women

Arlene Kutz   7.0 Grand Masters Women

Marty Murphy    7.0 Grand Masters Men

Allison Winchell’s 6.0 Masters Mixed Doubles team qualified for the Eastern Nationals which will take place Nov 16-18 in Orlando Fla. Allison is already laying claim the prize for winning the “oldest aged team” competition.

Last but not least, Jordy Asher’s 4.5 mens team advanced to Nationals, which took place late September in Tuscon, Arizona.

Our Annual Players Party in mid July had over 100 attendees, and a great time was had by all. A wonderful evening of fun tennis, great weather, and delicious food catered by Campus Wings.

playmate.jpgWe now have two Playmate “Ace” ball machines in our facility. The Ace is a state of the art ball machine whose features include:

  •  10-100+ mph speed,
  • variable controlled feed rate
  • 3 station shot pattern & narrow -wide feeding range
  • topspin, flat and underspin feed
  •  Remote control
  • The machine holds 200 tennis balls
  • All operations are electronically controlled with accurate control dials.

These machines are great; they are your friend on the court. Can’t find a game? Too busy to call someone? Try the Playmate. You will be guaranteed a good workout. Once can practice every shot except the serve with this machine. We have a series of drills for the Playmate to help get you going. Looking for that early morning workout before work, try the Ace!
