Ball Machine

playmate.jpgWe now have two Playmate “Ace” ball machines in our facility. The Ace is a state of the art ball machine whose features include:

  •  10-100+ mph speed,
  • variable controlled feed rate  
  • 3 station shot pattern & narrow -wide feeding range
  • topspin, flat and underspin feed
  •  Remote control
  • The machine holds 200 tennis balls
  • All operations are electronically controlled with accurate control dials.

These machines are great; they are your friend on the court. Can’t find a game? Too busy to call someone? Try the Playmate. You will be guaranteed a good workout. Once can practice every shot except the serve with this machine. We have a series of drills for the Playmate to help get you going. Looking for that early morning workout before work, try the Ace!

 

US Open Bus Trip

A spirited BTC contingent made their annual pilgrammage to the hallowed grounds of Flushing Meadow on Tuesday August 28 to watch 1st round action of the US Open. The Open, one of the four Grand Slam events of tennis has evovled into the most entertaining and exciting Slam, and this years event did not disappoint.

112 BTC members and tennis fans took in a day of great weather and tennis. Players spectated include: Arnaud Clement, Thomas Johannsen, (winner of the 2007 LGT Binghamton Challenger), Ivo Karlovic, (2005 Binghamton Challenger winner), James Blake, and countless others.

Our tailgate party was held amidst Shea stadium contrruction adn the famous NY railway system, but the distractions did not seem to bother anyone. We look forward to next years excursion.

BTC Level 11 ETA Tournament

Our Annual BTC Level 11 ETA Junior Tournament will run November 16-18. Being a level 11 event, it is appropriate for most of our juniors to enter. As there is no JCTP that weekend, we hope you will sign-up and compete!

You may enter online: click here. You may pay online, call in a credit card # to 722-3491 or mail a check. You should secure payment at the time of entry. The money must be received by tournament entry deadline.  

Entry deadline is Sunday, November 4 6pm. Start times and draws should be posted by Thursday, November 8. You may check times by clicking on the USTA/Eastern link. If you are familiar with the USTA junior tournament site, one can also enter online through their tennis link system.

We will update the tournament regularly during the event by posting draws and results. See you on the courts!

 

 

 

 

 

USTA Flash! 4.5 Men Advance to National Championships

Add the 4.5 Men to the the Binghamton Eastern Champions.  By winning 3 of the four matches they played, the Binghamton team won the sectional championships August 12.  It was clinched in the last match of the day.  By posting wins by Jerome Kilmer and Parker Gennett at singles and by Scott Smith/Lucus Coene and Jordan Smith/William Stickney at doubles, the team ended in first place as Southern, the only team that beat them lost 3-2 to Long Island. Congratulations guys!

4 Binghamtion Teams at Adult and Masters Sectional Championships

3.0 Men:  Team Krebbeks advanced.

3.0 Women:  Team Burns/Walsh advanced.

4.5 Men:  Team Binghamton/Asher advanced.

3.5 Masters Men:  Team Murphy advanced.

The 4.5 men play August 10-12.  The 3.0 men and women play August 17-19.  The 3.5 Masters Men play September 14-16.   Good luck teams.
