Tri-Level Leagues
are forming:
Women’s 3.0~3.5~4.0
Men’s 3.0~3.5~4.0
The Eastern Section is promoting a new kind of competitive league tennis. There are three different NTRP levels on one team. Three doubles teams compete in a match, one at each of the NTRP levels. For example, in Binghamton we are forming men’s and women’s 3.0~3.5~4.0 teams. Each team match will have a 3.0 doubles, 3.5 doubles and 4.0 doubles match. Like always a player may play up, but not down. Ideally a team would have three players at each level. Since this is a trial league, there are grants available to hold down the fees. Advancement beyond the local level will depend on what other areas start similar leagues. There was an announcement at the Eastern Coordinators’ Workshop that there would be national competition for local champions at the Pacific Life tournament at Indian Wells Tennis Garden March 5-18, 2007. Details have been provided that the only leagues invited to the Pacific Life Open will be 3.5~4.0~4.5 levels. Other leagues will not have any advancement opportunity this year. Mixed Doubles
