Quickstart

Ages 4-7 Foam & Red Ball (21"-23" racs)      $96 per session/ $20 per class 

Friday 4-5pm

Saturday 11:30-12:30

This program is designed for our players who are 4-7 years of age. They will be utilizing the 36 foot court along with red or foam balls depending on their age and ability. Within our quick start program there will be 4 levels of play. The kids will be progressing once again based on a variety of skill sets (e.g., physical, mental, tactical). Students can use a racquet up to a size of 23” on this court.

  • Rolling the ball to targets with the racket

  • Ability to hit a stationary ball out in front of their feet

  • Understanding of a low to high swing

  • Able to throw a ball over the net

  • Able to rally by rolling the ball back and forth with a partner or tapping in the air

  • Ability to hit a tossed ball out in front of their feet

  • Understanding the ready position and how to turn

  • Able to hit a serve over the net from a close position

Red I Skills

  • Able to rally back and forth with a partner over the net

  • Ability to hit a tossed ball out in front of their feet from the ready position

  • Understanding how to turn the wrist to create spin

  • Able to hit a serve over the net from a further position

Orange Ball

Ages 8-9, Orange dot Ball, (25" rac)     $96 per session/ $20 per class

Orange 1 - Thursday 5-6

Orange 2 & 3 - Thursday 4-5

Orange 1&2&3 - Saturday 12:30-1:30

This program will consist of 3 different orange ball levels. The kids in the orange ball program will range from 8-10yrs of age. During this phase of training the players will learn to develop the proper movement forward, lateral and diagonally. They will begin to utilize a full swing on all of the ground strokes and the top court will exhibit proficiency in most of the strokes. The players can use a racquet up to a size 25” on this court.

  • Ability to rally with red balls over the standard size net

  • Ability to follow through and hit over the net from the 60 foot line

  • Working on creating spin and how to use the wrist

  • Beginning volley development

  • Able to hit a serve over the net from a further position

  • Ability to rally with orange balls over the standard size net

  • Able to judge the ball and understand arcing vs flat shots

  • Beginning development of a circular swing path

  • Learning how to angle volleys

  • Able to hit a serve into the correct box from the 60 foot line

Orange I Skills

  • Ability to rally with orange balls from the 60 foot line

  • Advanced development of a circular swing path

  • Advanced development of angling volleys

  • Understanding the trophy pose position for the serve

  • Able to play points with serves and returns from the 60 foot line

Green Ball

Ages 9-10, Green dot Ball (26"-27" rac)       $150 per session/ $125 for 5 wk session

Monday 4-5:30

Saturday 12:30-2:00

This program will consist of 2 different levels. The kids in the green ball program will range from 9-10yrs of age. There will be a lower level court for students who are new to the game and need to build up a foundation of skills. The upper level courts will consist of players who have gone through the JCTP program and have progressed through the levels accordingly and have shown proficiency in the skills required to move on. Players can use up to a 26” racquet with the green balls.

  • Advancements in approach shots, volleys, and overheads

  • Advancements in 1st serve development

  • Intermediate development of slicing

  • Able to play full court points and be able to judge the ball correctly, and cover the court well

  • Ability to rally with green balls from the 78 foot line

  • Intermediate development of how to use the body to create power and accuracy

  • Intermediate development of approach shots  and overheads

  • Intermediate stages of 1st serve development

  • Understanding what a slice is and developing how to hit one
     

More Information

Going forward our instructors will be sending out evaluations at the end of each session to help you know where the kids fall on the Junior Pathway. 

Going through the Junior Pathway there is a lot of opportunity for the kids to start playing, there are some Orange ball and Green ball events between Binghamton, Syracuse, and Scranton we post on our Playing Opportunities Page. We also run a Junior Ladder and a Green ball Gold group for our more advanced 12 & under kids to gain match experience.
